Speaker: Jason Hasty, Archivist/ Sports Specialist at the Hargrett Library
Topic: “Saving Bulldog Sports History”
If you are like many of us, you may sometimes struggle with how to save family photographs, valuable documents, maybe even a precious garment passed down for generations. We often question whether we are doing more damage than good when we pack away a leather item or fold an oversized document.
The University of Georgia was founded in 1785…that’s 237 years ago! Have you ever wondered how a university that old and distinguished has managed to preserve its history all these years? If ‘yes’ to that question, then you need to hear Jason Hasty talk about his work as an archivist at the UGA Hargrett Library in Athens, GA. Although Jason’s focus is primarily sports, he will share stories that relate to the preservation of all memorabilia, artifacts, documents, and lasting treasures that are being saved for generations to come. If you love history and/or the University of Georgia, you’ll be so glad you came!
